RAINWATER PAVILION

An entertainment pavilion built on top of an existing concrete bunker containing two large rainwater tanks.  Taking cues from its robust foundation, the new structure is formed of timber board-marked concrete.  A lush green roof disguises the pavilion from the elevated house beyond and provides a landscaped gathering space with views of Mount Coot-tha filtered through native bushland.

The space within contains a bar, billiard table, library and built-in lounge to enjoy a fire on a winter’s night.  Large picture windows have been orientated to simultaneously afford privacy from the neighbour and capture framed views whilst two large concrete formed skylights receive dappled light from the eucalypt canopy above.
